5 pounds, 5 ounces!

We got to see our sweet new little baby at our high-risk Ob's office yesterday.  I had so been looking forward to it!!  Unfortunately, we got no pictures of him as he was low in my pelvis and turned into the placenta (must've learned this trick from Caleb - he did this my entire third trimester!), but we did get a good report and learned he is an estimated 5 pounds and 5 ounces!  He is measuring just over 18 inches with another 6.5 weeks to go.

The highlights:

  • Kidneys -  no swelling/hydronephrosis like that Caleb which had, requiring surgery
  • Amniotic fliud - measured within range at 9.9 (I went on bed rest at 37 weeks with Caleb due to it being low)
  • Placenta - great cord insertion, unlike Caleb's marginal/vilamentous one; definitely no more previa
  • Cord - no knots, although it did look like it was around his neck a couple of times

We go back for another peek in three weeks, and I go in for my weekly non-stress test tomorrow.  I can't wait to hear his heartbeat - hearing it almost made me teary last week!

For reference, here is the post I made at Caleb's MFM visit at the same gestation.
